The move, one step at a time
Understand what the three values do
The server address says which machine to talk to and on which port. The username identifies your line on it. The password proves the line is yours. That is the entire model, and it is why the same three values behave identically in every player: none is app-specific and no application can hold them hostage. It is also why moving here costs an evening rather than a weekend.
Find the Xtream option in your player
IPTV Smarters calls it Login with Xtream Codes API. TiViMate calls it Xtream Codes login. Most others shorten it to Xtream or simply API. Where a player offers both this and an M3U field, take this one — it retrieves the guide and on-demand catalogue, and the playlist route generally does not.
Enter the server address carefully
The complete address with http:// at the front and the port at the end, shaped http://example.com:8080, with nothing after the port. More failed logins trace to this single field than to everything else combined, and it fails in a way indistinguishable from a wrong password — which is how people spend an hour investigating the wrong thing and sometimes conclude a perfectly good line is faulty.
Enter the username and password
Take both straight from the message and mind the capitalisation, since they are case sensitive. The profile name is decorative. If you are typing with a television remote, do the first setup on a phone where pasting is possible, then repeat it on the television once you know the values are right.
Test somewhere easy before fighting a remote
Put the same three values into the browser player or the desktop app, where you can paste rather than type. If they work there, the account is certainly fine and any television problem is a typing error. If they fail there too, the account needs looking at — and you have saved yourself an argument with a directional pad.
Keep both sets of credentials
Save the new values somewhere retrievable, and do not delete the old ones the moment the new line works. Until you are certain, the old credentials are your way back. People who deleted them and then wanted to return have generally found that the previous provider had already stopped answering.
Understand what you are actually holding
Those three values are the subscription. Not the app, which is free and replaceable, and not the device. Anyone holding them can use your line, which is why they do not belong in forums. It is also why you are never locked in — if a provider stops being worth paying, you take your hardware and your player elsewhere and lose nothing but an evening.
If something does not behave
The app insists on an M3U URL instead
Some older players speak nothing but playlists. Use the M3U link from the same activation message; it carries the identical line in a different wrapper. The M3U page explains what to do from there and nothing about your subscription needs changing.
Login rejected on one device but fine on another
Compare the two character by character rather than assuming, because one has a typing error and it is nearly always the one entered with a remote. Where both are genuinely identical, check whether your plan's simultaneous limit is already in use elsewhere in the house.
Two lines, one works and one does not
If you are running an old provider and a new one side by side, remember each occupies a stream on its own plan. A refusal on the new line while the old one plays is usually the new plan's limit being reached by a second device, not a fault. Stop one and retry.
It worked, then stopped, with nothing changed
Check the end date first, because an expired line and a broken login are indistinguishable from a sofa. After that, some internet providers block particular server addresses; testing the same credentials over mobile data settles which of the two you are looking at in about thirty seconds.

Does changing provider mean changing app?
No, and if somebody told you it did, that is worth reflecting on. Any player that speaks Xtream takes any provider's credentials. A service that only works inside its own branded application has tied you to itself deliberately, and that lock is exactly what makes leaving feel harder than it is.
Is Xtream Codes legal?
The format is simply a convention for passing a username, a password and a server address, and ordinary applications throughout every app store rely on it. Nothing about it is restricted. Can I use these credentials in more than one app?
As many as you like, on as many devices as you like. Only the number of simultaneous viewers is limited. That portability is the main practical advantage of the format and the reason accounts are issued this way rather than as a proprietary login.
What if I lose them?
Message support and we resend, generally within minutes. Not a problem, merely a delay. Saving them when they first arrive removes even that, and takes fifteen seconds at a moment when they are already on screen in front of you.
Can I change my password?
Ask support and the line is reissued. Worth doing if you ever shared the credentials with somebody and would rather not have — including with a previous provider's support staff, who had no business asking. Bear in mind every device then needs the new values, so do it when you can reach all of them.
What is the port number for?
It tells the player which door to knock on at that server. Different providers use different ports and there is no universal one, which is why guessing does not work and why the address must be copied exactly. Leaving it off is the single commonest mistake in this whole process, and it looks exactly like a wrong password.
Does the server address ever change?
Occasionally, if capacity is moved or a route replaced. We tell you when it does and the username and password stay the same, so it is a one-field edit in each player rather than a fresh setup. It does not happen often, and a provider changing it without telling anybody is a warning sign in itself.
