The move, one step at a time
Check what is actually in your region's store
Press Home, go to Streaming Channels or the search field, and look for IPTV Smarters Player or IPTV Player. Search on the device rather than trusting a list you read elsewhere: what is stocked in the United States frequently is not in the United Kingdom, and the reverse happens too. If nothing suitable appears today, nothing at our end changes that.
Sign in, if a channel exists
Open it, take the Xtream Codes option, and enter the username, password and server address. Where the only field offered is for an M3U, use the link from the same activation message — it carries the identical account in a different wrapper. Note that most Roku IPTV channels hold one account at a time, so comparing two providers here means comparing them one after the other rather than side by side.
Understand why this platform is the hardest to switch on
Everywhere else, comparing two providers means adding a second playlist and clicking between them. On Roku most available channels hold one account, so a comparison means removing what you have to try something else — which is precisely the leap of faith you were trying to avoid. That is a limitation of Roku's design rather than of any provider, and it is worth naming before you plan around it.
Otherwise, mirror from a phone or computer
Screen mirroring is under Roku Settings, then System. On Android use Cast or Smart View; on Windows press Win+K. Whatever plays on that device appears on the television. It works, and it also occupies the phone completely, drains it, and costs picture quality. Know what you are accepting before relying on it.
Run the comparison somewhere better
Here is the practical advice: do the actual provider comparison on a phone, a laptop or another television, not on the Roku. You are trying to establish whether the line holds at peak, and the Roku adds so many limitations of its own that it will not give you a clean answer. Test properly elsewhere, then decide what to do about this particular screen.
Weigh the three options honestly
Put plainly: the store route is convenient where it exists and can vanish without notice; mirroring always works and is unpleasant to live with; a stick costs thirty dollars and ends the problem permanently. Most people who arrive on this page are at the third option within a month. Knowing that now may save you the month, and it is a more useful thing for us to say than a pitch would be.
Consider the answer nobody wants to hear
If this television is where you mainly watch, a Fire TV Stick at thirty to fifty dollars removes every limitation described above at once. Put it in a spare HDMI socket and leave the Roku for the mainstream streaming apps, which it does very well. A fair number of people arrive at that conclusion within a month, and knowing it in advance may save you the month.
If something does not behave
The IPTV channel vanished from the store
Roku removes these listings periodically, which is exactly why no promise is made that any particular one will be there. Your subscription is unaffected — the account was never tied to that channel. Use mirroring meanwhile, or move the television to a stick and stop depending on somebody else's catalogue decisions.
The channel installed but rejects the login
Some Roku IPTV channels only take an M3U link despite descriptions suggesting otherwise. Use the M3U from your activation message instead. If that is rejected too, the channel is not worth persevering with and this is not a fault with the line.
Mirroring connects but stutters
Mirroring sends video twice across your wifi, once to the phone and once to the Roku, so it needs roughly double the headroom of normal playback. Move closer to the router, drop to the HD copy, or accept that this is the ceiling of the method rather than a judgement on any provider.
The Roku will not appear as a mirroring target
Both devices must be on the same network and the same band. A phone on 5 GHz frequently cannot see a Roku on 2.4 GHz, which is the commonest cause and nothing to do with either device being faulty. Check Screen mirroring is set to Prompt or Always allow under Settings, System.

What people ask when moving a Roku
Can I compare two providers on a Roku?
Not comfortably. Most Roku IPTV channels hold one account, so you would be removing one to test the other, which defeats the purpose. Do the comparison on a phone or another television where both can run at once, then apply the decision here. That is a limitation of the platform rather than of anybody's service.
Is it worth buying a Roku for IPTV?
No, and we would rather say so before you spend. Buy a Fire TV Stick or an Android device for the same money and you gain the whole range of players. Roku is an excellent product for mainstream streaming; it is simply the wrong purchase if this is the main use.
Why does Roku block these apps?
Roku curates its store tightly and does not allow sideloading by design. That is defensible on their part — it is also why the platform is safe and simple for mainstream apps — but it means third-party IPTV players live and die by whether Roku chooses to stock them. There is no workaround.
Will the Roku still be useful if I add a stick?
Entirely. You are bypassing the software, not the screen. The set carries on working, the Roku interface stays on its own input, and the stick handles IPTV on another. A good number of households end up in exactly that arrangement and are perfectly happy with it.
Does AirPlay work from an iPhone to a Roku?
On most current models, yes, so an iPhone can throw a stream across without any channel being installed. It carries the same drawbacks as Android mirroring: the phone is occupied, the battery drains and quality drops. Check your particular model supports AirPlay 2 before relying on it for anything.
Will my old provider's Roku channel keep working after I switch?
Only until its line expires, and it will not accept our credentials unless it offers an Xtream or M3U field. Many provider-branded Roku channels accept only that provider's accounts, which is a lock rather than a convenience. If yours is one of those, treat it as disposable and plan on either the generic Smarters channel or a stick.
